Services

Two ways to work together

Both are done in QuickBooks Online, with a written scope and fee before anything starts.

Monthly bookkeeping

Your books stay current, and you get a short report you can actually read.

Best for
Businesses whose records are up to date and need to stay that way.
Includes
  • Transactions categorized and reviewed
  • Bank and credit card reconciliations
  • Month-end review and adjusting entries
  • Profit and loss and balance sheet, with a plain-English summary
  • A short list of questions, so nothing is guessed
Fee
A monthly fee, set in your written proposal.

Cleanup and catch-up

Your records are brought current and reconciled, with a written summary of what I found and changed.

Best for
Books that are behind, messy, or inherited from someone else.
Includes
  • Review of your existing records and accounting software
  • Missing months caught up
  • Misclassified, duplicate, and unreconciled items corrected
  • Every account reconciled to its statements
Fee
A one-time fee, set in a written scope. You can continue with monthly bookkeeping afterward.

How fees work

I send a written proposal after a short intro call. The fee depends on how many transactions and accounts you have, how far behind your records are, and which reports you need. Nothing starts until you've seen the scope and fee in writing and agreed to it.

Sample report

What a monthly report looks like

Each month I send a short report like this one, with a plain-English note on what changed and any questions I need answered.

Fictional data for illustration. This is not a real client.

March reportSample client
Profit and loss summary
Revenue$18,400
Expenses$12,150
Net income$6,250

Cash in bank, March 31$24,800

What changed

  • Software and subscriptions rose by $310 after a new project tool was added.
  • All bank and credit card accounts are reconciled to their March statements.

Questions for you

  • Should the new $310 project tool be tracked under Software or as a project cost?
  • Would you like owner draws shown on their own line each month?

Your answers do not change the totals above.

Sample only. Names and numbers are fictional.

Who I help

Who this fits, and what I don't do

A good fit

  • Self-employed professionals, freelancers, and consultants
  • Small service businesses with a manageable number of accounts and transactions
  • Owners whose books have fallen behind
  • Owners who want a dependable monthly routine

Not part of my services

  • Tax return preparation
  • Payroll processing
  • Audits, reviews, and other attest services
  • Legal advice

Also outside my current scope: businesses with significant inventory or multiple entities, and very high transaction volumes.

I'm glad to share organized records with your tax preparer, with your permission. Not sure which side you're on? Describe your business on an intro call and I'll tell you honestly whether I'm the right fit.

How it works

From first call to monthly report

  1. Free intro call

We talk through your business, your records, and what you need. I'll tell you honestly whether MQ Bookkeeping is a good fit.

  2. Written proposal

You receive a clear scope, timeline, and fee, plus a separate one-time fee if your books need catching up.

  3. Secure onboarding

I ask for accountant access to your accounting software, never your passwords. Documents move through a secure portal, not regular email.

  4. Monthly close and report

Each month I categorize, reconcile, and review your books, then send your reports with a short summary and any questions. Target delivery: by the 15th of the following month.

About

Meet Milad Qayum, CPA

I'm a CPA with a master's degree in Taxation and Data Analytics. My background is in accounting: bookkeeping, account reconciliations, adjusting entries, financial statement corrections, and helping clients get set up and onboarded.

I started MQ Bookkeeping to give self-employed people and small business owners something simple and dependable: books that are accurate, current, and easy to understand.

It's an independent, one-person practice, so you always work directly with me. I'd rather ask you a question than guess at a transaction.

I live in Mesa and work with clients across the East Valley and online.

FAQ

Common questions

What does it cost?

After a short intro call, I send a written proposal with a monthly fee and, if your books need catching up, a separate one-time cleanup fee, so you know the cost before anything starts. What affects the fee is explained under Services.

Which accounting software do you work in?

I work in QuickBooks Online. If you aren't using accounting software yet, we can talk through the simplest option for your business.

Do you prepare tax returns?

No. MQ Bookkeeping focuses on bookkeeping. I can keep your records organized so your tax preparer has what they need, and with your permission I'm glad to answer their questions about your books.

My books are months behind. Can you help?

That's what cleanup and catch-up is for. I review what you have, give you a written scope and one-time fee, then reconcile your accounts, correct errors, and bring your records current. If you'd like, we then move to monthly bookkeeping.

How do I share documents and account access safely?

Please don't send financial documents by regular email or through the contact form. Once we've signed an agreement, I set up a secure portal or encrypted file exchange. For accounting software, I ask you to invite me as an accountant user rather than sharing your password.

How soon will I receive my monthly books?

Your agreement sets a clear schedule. Once your statements and answers to my questions are in, I aim to deliver your reconciled books and reports by the 15th of the following month. I take on a limited number of clients so each one gets consistent attention.

Where do you work?

I'm based in Mesa and work with clients across the East Valley and online. Meetings are by phone or video; in-person meetings are not offered.
